Formula and assumptions
This calculator answers how much linear material is required. It does not assume 3 m, 6 m or another standard stock length. Use purchasing stock lengths separately when placing the order.

Questions and answers
Do I need to enter a standard bar length?
No. The result is the total material length required from your finished piece length and quantity.
How is saw kerf included?
Kerf is added between consecutive pieces, so quantity minus one cuts are included in the material requirement.
Can I use this for hex bar, square bar and pipe?
Yes. The length requirement is independent of cross-sectional shape. Use the Metal Weight Calculator when you also need mass.
